Tragedy Strikes in NYC Love Triangle: Woman Fatally Shot, Romantic Rival Injured, and Jealous Ex-Lover Takes His Life
On July 20, a heart-wrenching incident unfolded in New York City as a love triangle turned deadly. Jasmine Figueroa, 38, lost her life almost 14 hours after a pre-dawn shooting in Brooklyn, according to authorities and the New York Daily News.
The shooter, a 50-year-old man who was celebrating his birthday and was reportedly the father of Figueroa’s four daughters, took his own life with a gunshot to the head on the stoop of his own home.
The confrontation occurred when the jealous ex-lover shot Figueroa in the head and also injured a 44-year-old man, who is currently recovering at Kings County Hospital from wounds to his abdomen and leg.
A relative revealed that the incident was the result of a love triangle, stating, “It was a love triangle, and it got the best of him. They were childhood friends and then they fell for the same woman. She was going back and forth, from one to the other.”
A witness, who preferred to remain anonymous, was awakened by the argument and observed the horrifying scene. The gunman shot the younger man in his GMC Yukon, and Figueroa attempted to negotiate for her life as he demanded the keys to the vehicle.
Tragically, the ordeal did not end there. Moments later, the gunman shot Figueroa in the head before calmly walking away and eventually taking his own life across the street.
The entire community is left shaken by this devastating event, which serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of jealousy and the complexities of love and relationships.
