Melania Trump reportedly felt humiliated by her husband Donald Trump’s alleged affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels, and according to former aide Stephanie Grisham, she may be encouraging him to take the stand and defend himself in court.

Grisham, who served as Melania Trump’s spokesperson and later as her chief of staff during her time as first lady, shared her insights on CNN, stating that Melania did not take the news of her husband’s alleged affair lightly.

Grisham explained that Melania likely wants Donald Trump to make the situation stop and maybe push him to take the stand to defend himself.

This comes as Trump faces charges related to the hush money payments made to Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign. The legal case against Trump involves 34 felony counts brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

The case revolves around the use of Trump’s business records to allegedly hide a $130,000 hush-money payment to Daniels in the final weeks of the 2016 presidential campaign. Daniels claims she had a sexual encounter with Trump in 2006, shortly after Melania had given birth to their son Barron.

Trump has denied the affair and labeled the trial a politically motivated “witch hunt.” Prosecutors argue that Trump reimbursed his then-lawyer Michael Cohen for the hush money payments, which were processed by Trump’s business and allegedly disguised as corporate legal expenses in violation of New York law.

The trial, which marks the first time an ex-president has faced criminal charges in court, is expected to last around six weeks and may include testimony from Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen as witnesses for the prosecution.

Grisham also shared some historical context about Melania’s reaction to the allegations. In 2018, when the Wall Street Journal published details of the payments to Daniels, Melania reportedly felt blindsided by the report.

She made a last-minute cancellation to join Trump on a trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, which was seen by some as a sign of her anger.
