A 31-year-old man is facing accusations of fatally hitting a pedestrian in Dallas and then driving with the victim’s body in his car over the weekend.

White Settlement Police Department’s news release stated that on Saturday, Dec. 16, around 11:13 p.m., officers responded to a restaurant parking lot in the 8700 block of Interstate Highway 30 Service Road following a report of a heavily damaged vehicle. The caller also noted a driver who seemed “slumped over the steering wheel.”

At the scene, an officer discovered a lifeless human body in the front passenger seat of the gray Kia Forte. The driver, identified as Nestor Joel Lujan Flores, was instructed to exit the car and brought in for questioning.

Emergency personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

During an interview, Flores claimed he thought he had hit an animal in Dallas. Investigation revealed a crash in Dallas on the westbound service road of Interstate 30 near Cockrell Hill Road, where the impact was so severe that the pedestrian was thrown inside Flores’ vehicle and ended up on the passenger seat.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office informed White Settlement Police about human remains near the crash site, which might match the victim’s body. The medical examiner’s offices from Dallas and Tarrant counties will collaborate for identification.

After the alleged incident, Flores reportedly drove around 38 miles from the original crash scene in Dallas to White Settlement. He did not seek assistance or report the incident.

Flores was believed to have arrived at the restaurant parking lot between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Dec. 16.

The Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case, and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office will take over the investigation. Police seized the vehicle, and all recovered evidence will be sent to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. Blood test results are pending.

Flores is currently held in the White Settlement Jail on a pending charge of intoxication manslaughter. In 2020, Plano Police had previously arrested Flores for driving while intoxicated, and he was convicted in 2021.
