Energy Efficiency Matters Turning off the central heating before bedtime is not just a cost-saving measure; it’s also an environmentally conscious choice. Jess Steele, a heating technology expert at BestHeating, recommends running radiators for a few hours in the evening and setting a timer for the heating to come on an hour before waking up. This method ensures comfort without unnecessary energy consumption, ultimately preventing a hefty energy bill.

Mould Prevention Leaving the heating on high throughout the night may contribute to health and home issues. Jess Steele explains that while having short bursts of heating can prevent mould growth, keeping it on continuously can lead to excess moisture being trapped in warmer air.
