President Joe Biden has found himself in the spotlight once again, this time over his extended stays at his Rehoboth Beach house.

Speaking to reporters during a visit to Delaware on Sunday, September 3, Biden addressed concerns about his frequent trips, emphasizing that these were not vacations but a consequence of ongoing security upgrades at his Wilmington home.

Biden’s weekends away from the nation’s capital have been a subject of debate, with critics questioning the frequency of his retreats.

The President acknowledged that he used to spend weekends in Wilmington, Delaware, but the situation has changed in recent months due to security enhancements conducted by the Secret Service.

“I have no home to go to,” Biden stated while speaking in Rehoboth Beach, expressing that he’s been unable to return to his primary residence in Wilmington as reported by Daily Mail.

“I’m only here for one day. I’m not homeless; I just have one home. I have a beautiful home. I’m down here for the day because I can’t go home, home.”

The security upgrades in question are aimed at making his Wilmington residence more secure.

It was reported earlier that a stash of classified documents was discovered at that location, specifically in his garage. This revelation prompted the need for enhanced security measures.

President Biden first mentioned these upgrades in April, coinciding with his announcement of a reelection bid.

Over the weekend, he arrived in Delaware after a trip to Florida, where he assessed the aftermath of Hurricane Idalia. Initially planning to spend Labor Day weekend in Rehoboth, he altered his plans in response to the hurricane’s impact.

On Labor Day, President Biden, during his remarks, expressed the sentiment of being “almost home,” hinting at his upcoming return to Wilmington.

Criticism has surrounded President Biden’s frequent absences from Washington, D.C., and the substantial amount of time he has spent away from the White House.

According to an analysis by, since taking office, Biden has spent 39 percent of his presidency on vacation, equating to 360 days spent outside of the nation’s capital.

Notably, just two weeks ago, President Biden and his family embarked on a week-long vacation in Lake Tahoe, lodging at the home of Democrat billionaire Tom Steyer.

The controversy surrounding President Biden’s Rehoboth Beach stays and the security upgrades at his Wilmington home continue to be a point of discussion as his presidency unfolds.
